Hazwopper 24 hour refresher
24-hour HAZWOPER for limited-task or characterized site work.
Service Description
This in-person 24-hour HAZWOPER course is designed for workers whose duties fall within OSHA’s 24-hour training category. Under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3), this generally includes workers who are on site only occasionally for a specific limited task, such as groundwater monitoring, land surveying, or similar work, and who are unlikely to be exposed above permissible exposure limits or published exposure limits and do not need respirators. It also includes workers who are on site regularly, but only in fully characterized areas where exposures are below those limits, respirators are not required, and there is no reasonable possibility of an emergency developing. OSHA requires a minimum of 24 hours of off-site instruction plus one day of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor. OSHA also requires an 8-hour annual refresher to maintain current training. Current OSHA guidance also says HAZWOPER training must include an actual hands-on training component so employees can become familiar with PPE and safe practices in a non-hazardous setting. This course is a strong fit for samplers, inspectors, environmental technicians, utility personnel, support staff, and contractors whose work scope matches OSHA’s 24-hour HAZWOPER criteria.
